late update

February 14th, 2011

well, i have been lazy or busy or both to write up a nice post and finally start explaining how i do my stuff. i have been working sporadically though and there is progress. i experimented with terrain and refined the atmospheric effects. but mostly fixed bugs and design-flaws in Comet. i have uploaded some of the nicest wip screenshots to facebook. enjoy.

A small work-in-progress gallery

November 24th, 2010

slowly, the whole thing starts to look quite nice… a more verbose update soon.

galaxies

October 5th, 2010

another update. despite a shitload of work & stuff at uni, i more or less finished my galaxy simulation based upon the density-wave-theory (i am pretty amazed, that my implementation looks almost similar to the one shown there), the main feature being a correct computation of colors using planck’s law.

this will be improved a great deal in the future, mostly in the visual field (this cries for hdr), but i also intend to make the galaxy’s parameters adjustable i.e. different numbers of spiral-arms, elliptical galaxies, sunflower-galaxies, spheroid-galaxies etc.

well well, i finally got to it. i’ve hardly done any work on comet etc. in the last month due to lack of time - but i found a spare minute
to setup a small scene to show off my progress so far. it’s not much admittedly, most work went into the parts you can’t see…
next steps will be: terrain for the planets, proper lighting, hdr to get the sunrises right and speaking of the sun i like it being square.

reboot!

August 25th, 2010

well - i didn’t write here for more than a year so its safe to say that the experiment failed
and i suck at communicating my stuff. this is true, sadly.
but i don’t give up. i will try again - this time more focused.

i have 3 coding projects going on right now (besides work & study).

* my very own little graphics-engine i christened comet
* a visualization of a solar system to scale and in full detail (just wanna see if i can replicate the results of
mr. brebions infinity)
* a small game using comet (need a name!)

in the following posts i will write more about where i am and where i’m heading with all this and put
some pictures or something up.
until then

My Smoothed Particles

May 19th, 2009

My course-project from last term has been published on the university site. It is a humble implementation of a method proposed by Matthias Mueller et al. in this paper.
I’ve been using the in-house 3d-engine called jReality.
Take a peek here.
Never mind the low performance though.

Pirate Bay Trial

April 17th, 2009

Crazy things happening over in Sweden. A country so famous for being one of the most decent societies, as close to utopia as our possibilities allow, shows its ugly side. Enough of the elevated tone though, the guys behind thepiratebay.org, who recently got sued by the big-fucks of the media industry, lost the in the first instance of this obviously political trial. The accusation is ridicululous: ‘assisting in making copyright content available’. Listen to what the guys say here.

good luck! I’m with you.

InfiniteLoop begins!

April 16th, 2009

Well,  I actually did get myself a blog.  For some time now I had an urge to communicate thoughts and ideas on a broader level, to find like-minded people etc. Perhaps express myself a little bit. For me this all is quite novel.  The experiment begins…
